
Insomnia
Insomnia is a condition whereby you do not get enough sleep; adults are recommended to have at least 7 to 9 hours and adults over 65, 7 to 8 hours.
Symptoms
Symptoms can vary from person to person, these can be:
Restlessness
Hot flushes
Anxiety
Worry
Stress
Pain
Bad sleep habits
Social media
Busy mind, unable to switch off
Insomnia can be different from person to person
Not all who suffer from sleeping problems experience is the same, some people find it easy to fall asleep but wake up frequently or just can’t get back to sleep. For some it’s difficult to get off to sleep when they do they stay asleep. Others find they wake up too early and not get enough hour’s sleep.
Some may experience episodes of insomnia and for others it is chronic and a serious problem. Impacting on all aspects of their lives. Effects can be tiredness, fatigue, frustration, poor concentration, poor memory, reduced immune function and chronic insomnia can contribute to obesity, depression, heart disease, high blood pressure and strokes.
