ABOUT MARIA
Maria is a fully qualified, licensed acupuncturist and a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), practicing in Maldon, Essex. She qualified in 2003 at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture (LCTA).
After completing 3 years of training, she then studied for a further year to complete her BSc(Hons) Acupuncture Degree. After qualifying, Maria gained further experience at the Hangzhou Hospital in China.
As an acupuncture practitioner, Maria continues to advance her skills by attending post graduate training in areas such as Advanced Needling Skills, treating pain using Dr. Tan’s Balance Method and Nogier’s Auricular Therapy (ear acupuncture). She has also received post-graduate training in Fertility Acupuncture and Pregnancy Acupuncture.
Maria’s interest in Fertility Acupuncture was a direct result of the number of men and women seeking treatment for help to either conceive naturally or for supportive treatment whilst undergoing IVF or other fertility procedures.
Along with traditional acupuncture, Maria often uses these complementary techniques:
A vacuum is created in a special glass cup which is then placed onto the skin, usually the back. This therapy is designed to increase circulation, relieve muscle tightness and tension.
Clips are attached to needles and these connect to an electro-acupuncture machine which produces very tiny electrical currents. This therapy may have a long lasting effect on pain and inflammation.
Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is a dried herb. This herb is burnt to heat needles or used directly used on acupuncture points on the skin. Moxibustion has an influence on qi (energy) in the body and has the ability to circulate qi and blood and warm any cold conditions.
