BOWEL CANCER
This condition is the 2nd biggest cancer killer in the UK. Bowel Cancer UK are trying to promote awareness of the symptoms as early detection of the cancer maybe treatable and there is a good chance of survival.
Symptoms can be:
- bleeding from your bottom or in your stools/poo
- unexplained weight loss
- lump and/or pain in tummy
- unexplained tiredness
- change in bowel habits lasting 3 weeks or more especially if stools are looser or runny
Furthermore, if you are aged 60-74 you are entitled to a free NHS screening test in the post every 2 years. The test kit requires you to collect 3 stool samples. This test can be done in the privacy of your own home. Then return the sample in the freepost envelope provided. You can expect the results in 2 weeks. Also for more information on screening.
